Testing of Ore Comminution Behavior in the Geometallurgical Context—A Review

چکیده
Comminution tests are an important element in the proper design of ore beneficiation plants. In the past, test work has been conducted for particular representative reference samples. Within geometallurgy the entire ore body is explored in order to further identify the variation within the resource and to establish spatial geometallurgical domains that show the differential response to mineral processing. Setting up a geometallurgical program for an ore deposit requires extensive test work. Methods for testing the comminution behavior must therefore be more efficient in terms of time and cost but also with respect to sample requirements. The integration of the test method into the geometallurgical modeling framework is also important. This paper provides an overview of standard comminution test methods used for the investigation of ore comminution behavior and evaluates their applicability and potential in the geometallurgical context.

Development of Geometallurgical Indices for Semi-Autogenous Grinding at Sarcheshmeh Porphyry Copper Mine
Geometallurgy tries to predict the instability the behavior of ores caused by variability in the geological settings, and to optimize the mineral value chain. Understanding the ore variability and subsequently the process response are considered to be the most important functions of an accurate geometallurgical study. In this paper, the geometallurgical index is presented as a new tool to...

The main purpose of geometallurgy is to develop a model to predict the variability in the mineral processing performance within the ore body. Geometallurgical tests used for developing such a model need to be fast, practical and inexpensive and include as an input data relevant and measureable geological parameters like elemental grades, mineral grades and grain size. Important in each geometal...
متن کاملParticle Size Distribution Effects that Should be Considered when Performing Flotation Geometallurgical Testing
Flotation recovery in geometallurgical modelling is usually predicted based on relationships developed from batch flotation testing of different ore types. These batch flotation tests are usually performed at a constant set of operating conditions and at a fixed feed grind size P80. Usually the laboratory feed grind P80 is that which is expected to be produced in the full-scale flotation circui...
متن کاملGeometallurgical Mapping: a New Approach That Reduces Technical Risk
Geometallurgical mapping is a new team-based approach that documents variability within an orebody and quantifies the impact of geology (host rocks, alteration and structure) and mineralogy on grinding, metallurgical response and metal recovery processes. The quantitative, spatially constrained database that results can be readily integrated into 3-D block models and mine planning activities. T...
متن کاملA developed approach based on grinding time to determine ore comminution properties
In this paper, iron ore sample from the Chadormalu was investigated to determine some comminution properties. Chadormalu deposit is one of the largest iron ore mine in Iran, which is located in Yazd province. The representative ore sample contained 57%Fe, 0.9%P and 0.17%S. The sample was crushed; afterward, it was ground in various grinding times according to the Bond Ball mill approach to spec...
